What To Expect When You Work With SLS

The SLS Customer Experience

When you choose SLS for your landscaping needs, the following is a summary of what you can expect from us.

After submitting a Quote Request via our website or contacting our office we will schedule a meeting with one of our designers best suited for your particular project. This initial meeting occurs onsite where you can discuss the project with your Project Manager (PM). Your PM will ask clarifying questions about your project and work with you to flesh out your ideas or find solutions to your issue, take measurements, elevation readings, etc. Once equipped with the information they need, they will work on your design / scope and send you a quote. If you are satisfied with the design / scope and agree to the work you can sign your contract and submit your down payment online. From there you will be put on our schedule.

Our Scheduling Process

  • Your Project Manager will provide you with an estimated start time frame for your project.  We say “estimated” because in this field, it is almost impossible to give an exact start date.  Many factors such as weather, staffing availability and equipment availability can end up pushing back your start date. On the other side of scheduling, there are times where the start date is earlier than expected, and we will communicate with you if that is the case as well.  We do our best to complete projects in the order they sign contracts with us.

  • At least one day prior to our arrival (earlier when possible), your PM will reach out letting you know we will get started soon.  During this week, you may see utilities marked in your yard if your project requires any sort of excavation.

Production (the FUN part!)

  • Your project may require large machinery and trailers to be onsite.  SLS will be parking large trucks and trailers in the street for extended periods of time on the project, but please also let your PM know if there are special circumstances around your property we should be aware of for parking and access.  We will do our very best to accommodate any requests.  We also want you to be seen as a good neighbor.

  • Onsite, you will have a Crew Leader continuously working on your project,  and usually one or two other Crew Members.  Your Crew Leader will be able to answer quick questions about what they are working on, where equipment/tools are stored, or any general questions/requests you may have.  If you have concerns or changes in regards to the project, please contact your PM directly.  They will help make sure your expectations are met.

  • During the beginning and middle stages of your project, you may notice that things get a little messy.  Please be patient with the process. Our end goal is to make your project look clean and something you love!

Payment

  • SLS requires a 25% deposit on projects over $1,000.  This will ensure your project is placed on the schedule and may be used to help cover an initial purchase of materials and/or resources required for your project.  Our office manager will invoice for this deposit.  You can pay by check, ACH, or by credit card with an additional service charge.

  • If your project is in multiple stages or will take more than one week, SLS will progress bill for your completed work.  Your PM will notify you if you will receive a progress bill and can help answer any questions you may have.

Post-Completion (the REALLY FUN part)

  • Once your project is complete, or nearing completion, your PM will contact you to review any outstanding questions or concerns.

  • Our Office Manager will then email you a final invoice for any remaining balance.

Warranty Information

  • If you have new trees or plants installed, your PM will send you watering & care guidelines for your new plants during their establishment.  This is a crucial part of ensuring your plants are able to set deep roots and thrive for years to come!  Our 1 year warranty covers replacement of trees and plants installed at ½ the cost of the labor and materials charged for that specific planting.  We do not offer warranty for small ornamental grasses and perennials due to the harsh weather conditions we endure.

  • Watering and care for establishment will be important to minimize any follow-up replacement needs.

We LOVE Referrals and Reviews!

  • Finally, the greatest compliment you can give SLS is the referral of your friends and family.  If you were pleased with the results of your project (and if you’re not, please let us know!), please pass along our contact information and leave us a positive review on Google or Facebook.
